My friend Penelope Sanyu had the blogpost of the week last week. In her story laced with humour and wit she tells of her date with a young man who checked most of the boxes of a suitor, I mean, by the time a girl is seeing her pregnancy photoshoot at 7 months singing “Wadawa Ex-Wadawa” it is serious. Penny is the beauty with brains kind and having a guy in her cross-hairs, he must be real game!
This guy was opening doors and pulling chairs –Oh Jesus!
Anyway, so at the end of the date as she kept her empty mineral water bottle to dispose it off properly, the knight in shining armor snatched it from her and with a stone-face lowered his car window and chucked it out of the car. That was the end of him.
I was as in my teenage years when my father said something interesting. I don’t quite remember what triggered the conversation but he said that;
it is possible to tell the character of a man by seeing his eating habits and his toilet habits.
We might never get the chance to look into the toilets of our leaders, or even dine with them to see exactly what kind of table manners they have. However, based on their physical appearance, it is very likely there’s more going in than is coming out for many of them. Some will argue that it is good feeding, lack of exercise but I think it is simply indiscipline and this is how I know.
Because we use the same roads as these “leaders” of ours, they have summed up their table, toilet and time-keeping habits into one and brought it out for all of us to see. Their TRAFFIC manners. From the picture I took at the by-pass, this Minister of State in a UG. *****Q Land-Cruiser Prado aka Mpenkoni decided to overtake in a corner and at the narrowest point. Don’t blame their drivers, its their bosses that are the problem. Ignoring all the road furniture that has been erected along the road for our safety.
If you have had a chance of driving on our narrow, porthole riddled and congested roads you surely have met your leaders. They are the guys in RED plate vehicles who are breaking all the traffic regulations. Remember these are regulations to protect both you and them, they are paid to either formulate or enforce these laws but are not bothered at all. Normally the excuse is that they are in a hurry to make it to meetings, if it was important to them they’d have planed better for it. TIME is a constraint for all of us!
Everything rises and falls on Leadership:
John Maxwell in the 5 levels of leadership has made me really understand why some of our leaders think and act the way they do. It has helped me lower my expectations of them and saved me unnecessary heart-ache. I no-longer expect LEVEL 5 results from a LEVEL ONE leader!
I also believe that the best definition of a gentleman is one who uses a butter knife even when he is alone.
Proverbs 29:18 says: Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, But happy is he who keeps the law.
I think we can do something about these people: lets take picture of their cars, NAME and SHAME them and everyone will better who not to vote next time!
What do you think?
