Yesterday I was one of the proudest men alive. I saw my wife take charge and that ought to make any husband super proud. We had to lead our team to WHM- Mukono and she also was putting together a meeting of marrieds’ for the WHM – Naalya location.
I had been under the weather on Friday and spent most of Saturday in bed but everything went as planned. We had two successful events thanks to her leadership. I just want to make an observation/assumption and also Celebrate the gorgeous, intelligent, beautiful, articulate, warm, (add all superlatives) lady I am humbled to call my wife!
Most wives by societal conditioning or other think that to take lead is to usurp the husband’s powers. As a matter of fact to some extent I think my wife held this view. She felt passionately about leading something but spent her energy trying to get me to lead her project of which I was sometimes not as equally passionate or dedicated for various reasons. Including numerous commitments.
So this is what happened; She would walk up to the “connect desk” and sign us up for a role and then tell me. She then spent a lot of time reminding me on what I was supposed to be doing – These are things that she could also do but I am inclined to think that she often thought, hubby dearest needs to be seen at the apex of this. It normally left her unhappy with my delivery on “her” projects!
I would like to celebrate my dear wife VASTA N. Kamara for the growth in leadership that you have exhibited.
I know you have it in you. You’ve hosted service, you’ve stepped up and led prayer, you’ve handled the MC in my absence, you’re the rock at home with the kids and all… I am super proud of you.
I am sure she is led of the spirit of God, to an extent thanks to Harvest Institute but this quote might have also helped – “The state of your team is a function of you, not your team.”
I want to also celebrate all the members of Our MC – THE KAIZEN Missional Community.
You all know we are getting better and doing good to our community along the way!
